The F-1 Visa, known as the Academic Student Visa, is a non-immigrant visa that grants entry into the United States for full-time education at approved educational institutions. Approved institutions include colleges, universities, theological schools, conservatories, academic high schools, elementary schools, or other academic programs. To qualify, individuals must be enrolled in a program that leads to a degree, diploma, or certificate. Additionally, the chosen school must be authorized by the U.S. government to admit international students.

To be eligible for F-1 visa categories, the following criteria must be met:

  1. Enrollment in an academic, language training, or vocational program.

  2. Approval of the school by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

  3. Full-time student status at the institution.

  4. English proficiency or enrollment in courses aimed at achieving English proficiency.

  5. Sufficient resources to support oneself throughout the entire duration of the educational process.

  6. Maintaining a residence abroad without the intent to abandon it.

Duration: The stay in the U.S. is determined by the duration of the educational program and the time required for completion, allowing individuals to remain up to 60 days after the program end date as specified in their Form I-20, Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status.

Family Members: Spouses and unmarried children (under 21) may accompany the applicant as dependents in F-2 status.
