The M-1 visa (Vocational Student) is a non-immigrant visa that includes students in non-academic programs or other academic programs outside of language training.

To be eligible for the M-1 visa categories, the following criteria must be met:

  1. Enrollment in a non-academic or vocational program.

  2. Approval by the school’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

  3. Full-time student status at the institution.

  4. English proficiency or enrollment in courses aimed at achieving English proficiency.

  5. Sufficient resources to support oneself for the entire duration of the educational process.

  6. Maintaining a residence abroad without the intent to abandon it.

Duration: This visa is valid for up to one year.

Family Members: Spouses and unmarried children (under 21 years old) can accompany the applicant as dependents under M-2 status.
